PIERRE MOEHR
This novel, written by friburger Etienne Eggis (1830-1867),
was illustrated by Roosevelt in 1994, at Etienne Chatton's
request.
Chatton was then one of the directors of the Fribourg's
cultural heritage section of the B.C.U.
(Cantonal and University Library).
Published by the Editions de La Sarine (Friburg)
together with the B.C.U., this small book contains 20
illustrations
in diverse sizes, all made in Indian ink.
Roosevelt juggles here with caricature and realism:
he depicts with irony the meetings of the two political
partys
that were in fashion then, the Conservatives and Radicals,
and at the same time he produces accurate documents
of the Friburg's buildings' architecture and fountains.
